Message from the Officer
Dear Parent,

The role and mission of the Chicago Public Schools Office of Academic Enhancement is to coordinate the application, selection, and notification process for Selective Enrollment High Schools to ensure continuity and equity. The Selective Enrollment examination process is a partnership between our eight schools that is designed to identify and offer admission to the city's most promising young scholars. We invite you to explore our community of great neighborhoods, great people, and great schools.

The Selective Enrollment High Schools collectively select incoming freshmen only via a single comprehensive admissions process. Every year, applications are received from more than 12,000 students. Generally, there are only 2,500 spaces available each year, which means that many qualified students cannot be accommodated. As a result, we strongly encourage parents to maximize their options by applying to numerous Chicago public high schools and programs.

Our office does not provide testing and processing for enrollment after the freshman year. For information on post-freshman admittance, contact the school in which you are interested.

On behalf of the entire Office of Academic Enhancement, we thank you for your interest and continued support of the Chicago Public Schools.
